Most passengers are positive about new system allowing them to open doors in public transport

An opinion survey carried out on the website of "Rīgas satiksme" shows that a majority of passengers are positive about "Rīgas satiksme" gradually implementing a new system of opening doors in public transport, which provides that passengers who want to get on or off public transport have to press special buttons to open doors. Such buttons are available in all public transport vehicles of new type.

47% of respondents support the new system of opening doors being implemented in public transport, which, they note, enables the temperature inside public transport to be controlled both in summer and in winter, whereas 7% of respondents note that thanks to the new system of opening doors now the public transport spends less time at stops. Also 7% participants of the opinion poll note that they have been using such system of opening doors in new trams for a long time, and it is very comfortable.

37% respondents say they prefer doors being opened by the driver, and only 2% admit that they haven’t noticed such a possibility in public transport.

More than 4400 respondents participated in the opinion carried out on "Rīgas satiksme" website in October 2013.

It should be reminded that in mid-September "Rīgas satiksme" started to gradually implement the new system of opening donors in public transport, and to introduce it successfully, the company launched an information campaign "Press the button and open the doors yourself!", during which passengers in public transport and at public transport stops are informed about the new system and its advantages.
